Huge congratulations to our Regional Sales Manager, Nigel Hatton, who has raised more than £3,700 for the Rotherham Hospice after completing a 20 mile walking circuit of the town’s six golf courses – smashing his £500 target six times over.

Usually Nigel helps organise Party on the Square, an annual fundraiser for the local hospice at the Wickersley Old Village Cricket Club where he’s club chairman. However, the Covid-19 pandemic this year forced him to turn to an alternative challenge.

On Sunday May 24, Nigel and his son James completed their walk in six hours and 45 minutes, which included Sitwell Park Golf Club, Phoenix Golf Club, Grange Park Golf Club, Wath Golf Club, Roundwood Golf, Sports & Social Club and Rotherham Golf Club.

With support from family and friends, Nigel has raised more than £20,000 for the hospice over the last five years, in memory of his wife Jayne.

Nigel says: “May 24 should have been Party on the Square with hundreds having a great day, listening to music and having a drink with friends. Also a big part of the day is raising money for Rotherham Hospice. In 2015 I lost my wife Jayne and the Hospice gave her amazing end of life care.

“Since Jayne’s death along with many friends we have raised over £20,000 for the Hospice. During these difficult times of Covid 19, hospices all over the country are losing out on donations. Everyone knows my love of golf so instead of Party on the Square I walked the golf courses of Rotherham with my son James, about 20 miles.  If everyone I know could make a small donation even if just the price of a drink, it’s all for a great cause.”
