An opportunity has arisen at our Darlington site for a Business Development Manager to join the External Sales team. 

Reporting to the Head of Sales, the main purpose of the BDM role is to develop new and existing customer accounts within the Darlington portfolio and the wider Cepac Group.

Main duties:

• To target, qualify and secure new business with an opportunity to grow from £100k to £1m+.
• To acquire new business in line with the Company business strategy.
• To explore new growing or merging markets and present the opportunity to develop this area with Cepac.
• Achieve the sales plan in line with the pre-agreed budget.
• Service and support potential growth accounts until ready to move in house or to another account manager.
• Organise site visits to prospective and existing customers.
• Produce monthly reports on customer visits.
• Liaise with Design and Production to ensure trials/orders meet customer specifications.
• Conduct on site meetings with existing and potential customers observing all Health, Safety and Hygiene requirements.
• Liaise effectively with all internal departments via CRM system.
• Support the Head of sales and Internal Sales Team to satisfy customer requirements.
• In conjunction with the Technical Department support customer trials and attend them if necessary.
• Support relevant exhibitions to promote or investigate Cepac opportunities.
• Undergo training as required by the needs of the business.

The successful candidate must: 

• Have sales experience within the packaging industry.
• Have a proven track record of targeting, winning, and managing new business.
• Hold a full UK Driving Licence or equivalent.
• Be numerate, literate and have strong analytical and computer skills.
• Be responsiveness to change and have the ability to make quick decisions.
• Have a high level of integrity and values.
• Be a team player who promotes consistency and teamwork within the whole organisation.
• Possess excellent communication skills.
• Be self-motivated with the ability to work under pressure with good time management skills.
• Have effective management and leadership skills with the ability to coach and support others.
